Job description

Ops Tech Alliance (OTA) is seeking a Database Manager/Administrator to support the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) at the Presidio of Monterey, CA. This role administers databases for the Data Center and application development teams, supporting both existing and newly developed applications. This position is contingent upon contract award. Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and update databases for production and development applications.
  • Implement and verify security controls to ensure data protection at rest and in transit.
  • Plan, install, and maintain database servers and applications, including after-hours work as required.
  • Tune database performance; troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Manage backup, recovery, and high-availability configurations.
  • Collaborate with application developers, analysts, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • AA/AS in a related discipline from an accredited college or university, OR 3+ years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Active IAT Level II certification (one of: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) plus applicable CE/OS certification.
  • 3+ years of database administration experience.
  • 2+ years of experience testing applications and documenting issues found in testing.
  • Hands-on expertise with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong SQL programming and data modeling skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

Desired Qualifications

  • Vendor DBA certifications (Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, etc.).
  • Experience administering databases in hybrid cloud or AWS/Azure environments.
  • Prior DoD or Army experience.
