Job description
We're partnering with an enterprise SaaS company building an R&D intelligence platform used by large global manufacturers to unify and modernise fragmented research data, enabling more efficient experimentation, analysis, and innovation. They are now hiring a Technical Pre-Sales / Solutions Engineer (R&D domain focus) to act as the technical bridge between the product and prospective enterprise customers., * Own the end-to-end technical pre-sales process, including discovery, demos, value case development, technical evaluations, and pilot execution.
- Design and deliver customised demonstrations, workshops, and pilots tailored to enterprise R&D workflows.
- Partner closely with Account Executives to support value-based selling and close new enterprise customers.
- Lead technical evaluation sessions, clearly articulating how the platform transforms R&D data management and innovation workflows.
- Support pilot implementations by configuring integrations and writing scripts on the platform's integration layer (e.g., Python-based workflows).
- Mentor junior team members supporting pre-sales and technical evaluation activities.
- Travel to customer sites (25-50%) to deliver on-site workshops, presentations, and technical engagements.
Requirements
This is a high-ownership, customer-facing role combining scientific depth with commercial execution - ideal for someone with a strong chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering background who enjoys translating complex R&D workflows into compelling technical solutions and driving enterprise adoption., * 4-7 years of experience in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, consulting, or R&D digitalisation roles.
- Strong academic background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science (MS or PhD strongly preferred; PhD candidates without industry experience considered if exceptional communicators).
- Experience working in enterprise R&D environments or with laboratory informatics / scientific data systems.
- Background in management consulting (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG) with a strong technical or scientific foundation is a plus.
- Experience at a chemical or materials science company (e.g., BASF, Dow) in R&D digitalisation or scientific computing roles is highly valued.
- Ability to build and deliver technical demos or prototypes for enterprise customers.
- Strong scripting ability (Python preferred) for integrations and platform configuration.
- Deep understanding of R&D workflows and scientific data structures in chemistry/materials domains.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to operate confidently in fast-paced, customer-facing environments.
