Job description

In this role, you will collaborate with customers, subcontractors, local engineers, and geographically dispersed teammates to operate, sustain, and enhance OpenStreetMap and QGIS capabilities for the Department of Defense. You will help keep OSM content current, secure, and accessible across customer-directed environments while supporting the overall health and usability of geospatial content services. You will create and deliver custom OSM datasets based on user requests, support day-to-day content management activities, and help bridge sustainment and enhancement priorities across the Strata Content team. You will also work closely with users and technical teams to resolve issues, improve workflows, and ensure mission needs are met in a fast-paced operational environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, computer science, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of professional experience, or 3 years with a related Master's degree
  • Experience managing, maintaining, or supporting GIS content in operational environments
  • Experience with geospatial visualization applications or GIS technologies such as OpenStreetMap, QGIS, ArcGIS, OpenLayers, or Cesium
  • Experience working with customers or users to fulfill data requests, resolve issues, or support geospatial workflows
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams and job functions while supporting both sustainment and enhancement priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment
  • Active Top Secret clearance required to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience with at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript, or Java
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux, PostgreSQL, AWS, or Apache
  • Experience working in AWS or other cloud environments
  • Help desk or technical customer support experience
  • Experience creating, packaging, validating, or delivering custom OSM datasets
  • Experience supporting secure geospatial content across multiple customer environments
