Job description

Client is seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer / GCP Data Operations Engineer to support a sensitive data analytics initiative focused on insider threat detection. This role is responsible for configuring, operating, and monitoring Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments to ensure secure, reliable data onboarding and analytics operations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud, particularly in project setup, IAM, service accounts, APIs, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery. You will work independently while partnering with cloud engineering, security, analytics, and platform teams to maintain day to day operational reliability., * Set up and support GCP projects, APIs, service accounts, IAM roles, permissions, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery resources

  • Partner with cloud engineering, compute, security, and platform teams to validate access, privileges, and connectivity
  • Support secure onboarding of sensitive data into Cloud Storage and BigQuery
  • Build and maintain BigQuery datasets, tables, views, scheduled queries, and summary tables
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot scheduled data transfers and analytics workflows
  • Resolve job failures, permission issues, schema changes, and data availability problems
  • Define and implement least privilege access patterns for GCP resources
  • Validate secure access to cloud hosted data from internal analytics environments
  • Document cloud resources, job schedules, dependencies, runbooks, and support procedures
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and governance requirements

Requirements

  • 3 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform operations
  • Strong hands on experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with GCP project setup, IAM, service accounts, permissions, and APIs
  • Strong BigQuery expertise (datasets, tables, views, SQL, scheduled queries)
  • Experience onboarding data into Cloud Storage and BigQuery
  • Experience scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting recurring data jobs
  • Strong SQL skills for data validation, transformation, and aggregation
  • Solid understanding of IAM, least privilege access, and permission troubleshooting
  • Experience working with centralized cloud, security, or platform teams
  • Comfortable working with sensitive data in regulated environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with security analytics, insider threat detection, fraud, or cyber defense use cases
  • Experience with GCP services such as Data Transfer Service, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, or Cloud Run
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform)
  • Monitoring and logging tools experience (Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, Splunk, Grafana)
  • Python experience for automation, validation, or API interactions
  • Experience in large enterprise cloud environments
  • Familiarity with identity, endpoint, access logs, or security event data, * Strong cloud data operations engineer who can quickly stabilize and scale secure GCP analytics environments
  • Able to translate ambiguous access and analytics requirements into clear technical execution
  • Comfortable collaborating across analytics, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, and platform teams
  • Ownership driven, detail oriented, and security minded
  • Practical, execution focused, and able to operate independently
