Job description
The Computer Operator 2 provides Tier 1 and select Tier 2 support for a variety of data center operational functions. Key responsibilities include monitoring, defining, and responding to alerts, alarms, and workloads across multiple enterprise systems. Supported environments include Windows, Linux, Unix, z/OS, and various network components, utilizing tools such as CA7, CA11, TSO, SDSF, Orion, and others. This role operates within a team that serves as the central command and control point for a broad range of IT systems and application support activities. The data center is staffed 24x7x365, and the successful candidate must be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally high-stress environment. This is a 3rd shift position. Hours are 12:00 am to 8:30 am. You will work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule., * Assist with configuring, maintaining, and supporting applications.
- Operate and monitor various mainframe and midrange computer systems
- Troubleshoot application and customer issues via email, application dashboards, and the ticketing system.
- Assist with maintaining agency job scheduling requests and verification.
- Operate computers, printers, storage devices, tape drivers and related equipment.
- Clean computers, tapes and printers.
- Direct and review work of lower-level operators on a periodic basis.
- Works rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

Requirements
- Working knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL) and/or other scripting languages.
- Ability to operate various types of computer systems and related equipment.
- Ability to give clear detailed instructions.
- Ability to relay requested information quickly and accurately.
- Ability to multitask and monitor several applications and dashboards simultaneously.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 1+ years of experience in computer operations applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports
