Job description
- design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems;
- contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps across projects;
- evaluate and integrate modern development tools, including AI-assisted coding, testing, and documentation tools, where they add value;
- provide technical leadership and mentorship to other developers;
- collaborate with researchers and faculty on software supporting teaching and research, including data-intensive and potentially AI-enabled applications;
- ensure high standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and maintainability;
- contribute to best practices around responsible use of AI, including privacy, security, and ethical considerations., You will work on the greenest and most innovative campus in the Netherlands, in an international and open working environment.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software development?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * HBO Bachelor in IT / Computer Science / Information Systems (or similar);
- strong experience in software engineering and system design;
- strong proficiency in .NET, Blazor, Microsoft Azure;
- demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt new technologies pragmatically;
- understanding of the implications of AI in software development, including code quality, maintainability, and ethics;
- experience with, or interest in, AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, automated testing tools);
- ability to make sound technical decisions and clearly communicate trade-offs;
- experience mentoring developers and contributing to a collaborative team culture, by taking the techlead role in large high impact projects;
- fluent English, elementary Dutch.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 4,045.- and € 7,068.- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11 or 12). Additionally, For this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract with the intention to convert it into a permanent contract. For our Software development team, we are looking for a senior Software Developer. Our software development team is developing and maintaining applications for education, operations and research. The team is developing in both high code languages (.NET, Blazor, Python) and in low code environments (Mendix). Microsoft Azure (containers) is mainly used to support building, deploying and running the software.
