Job description

Serve as a senior Exchange Administrator for FCA's email systems and work with FCA's designated technical staff Core Responsibilities

  • Administer FCA's email systems, which are implemented in Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Exchange Online.
  • Support Exchange integrations with interfacing systems (e.g., in-house applications, Microsoft Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, M365 services, and anti-spam appliances) including tasks related to certificates, mail flow, security, and data loss prevention.
  • Support technical projects related to improving the architecture, administration, operation, and security of the agency's email systems.
  • Perform operations and maintenance activities for the Exchange environment including monitoring environment health, updating configurations, applying updates, and reviewing and actioning mail flagged as potential or actual threats.
  • Support end-user and business email requests including those related to user mailbox provisioning, management, access/permissions, and deprovisioning. Make recommendations on best-fit solution for requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with FCA's email systems and mail flow, working with FCA and other entities, as required. Mail flows includes integrated systems (e.g., anti-spam appliance, Microsoft DLP tools, and non-Exchange encrypted email service).
  • Respond to and resolve assigned incidents and service request tickets, following FCA's ticket resolution processes for updating and closing tickets.
  • Apply security controls, security updates, and STIGs to systems as directed by the Agency.
  • Support security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities as they pertain to Exchange and server operations responsibilities (e.g., participating in meetings with A&A assessment team, answering questions, and providing documentation).
  • Document configuration settings, procedures, processes, and root cause analysis when required.
  • Provide additional support for routine general server administration tasks including applying patches, managing backups, and performing software and operating system installations in accordance with FCA's processes and procedures.
  • Provide general operations support for FCA's Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, as required (e.g., performing Exchange-related tasks for FCA's cloud migration projects, conducting cloud operations tasks which are analogous to FCA's on-prem environment).
  • Adhere FCA's policies, processes, and procedures in performance of all task, including but not limited to change management, vulnerability management, records management, privacy, and security.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science recommended, but not required
  • Experience: 7+ years recent experience as a senior Microsoft Exchange administrator
  • Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Exchange / Exchange Online, Microsoft Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, M365 services, and anti-spam appliances, Exchange backup and recovery, PowerShell scripts, Networking
  • Certifications: Following Certifications are recommended, but not required: M365 Messaging Administrator, Azure Administrator, Security+, SC-300 or CISSP.

Preferred Expertise

  • Demonstrated success in Federal Contracting recommended.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
