Job description
Bright Star is recruiting an experienced Data Analyst to support a federal sensor technology program. This position is full-time and hybrid. This role will work closely with the program team to process, analyze, and interpret data generated by geophysical sensing systems deployed in operational environments.
This role offers a unique opportunity to apply applied geophysical and data science skills to high-impact federal operations - working at the intersection of sensor physics, signal processing, and data analytics in support of real-world mission outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Process and analyze data from geophysical sensing systems, including seismic, acoustic, and electromagnetic sensors

Perform signal processing and noise reduction on sensor data to support detection and characterization workflows

Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and structuring sensor datasets

Build visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Support geophysical data interpretation and anomaly detection using statistical and data science approaches

Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and federal clients to refine data collection and analysis methods
Requirements
Do you have experience in Signal processing?, * Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Physics, Earth Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field

2+ years of experience working with sensor or geophysical data in an applied setting

Proficiency in a scripting language or tool for data processing and analysis

Familiarity with signal processing concepts (filtering, spectral analysis, time-series analysis)

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau)

Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation

Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting findings to stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with seismic, acoustic, or ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data

Proficiency in Python, SQL, and/or Excel for data analysis and reporting

Familiarity with geophysical processing software (e.g., SeisWare, OpendTect, Kingdom)

Experience supporting federal government programs or defense/security contractors

Knowledge of machine learning techniques applied to sensor data classification or anomaly detection

Active DHS or CBP Background Investigation
