Job description
Business Partnership: Partner directly with business stakeholders (brokers, underwriting, operations, product) to elicit requirements and translate them into technical solutions. POC / MVP Delivery: Rapidly design and build Proof-of-Concept and Minimum Viable Product solutions using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and Cursor. Architecture & Design: Provide architectural direction for applications and data pipelines across .NET, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks. Technical Leadership: Lead, mentor, and review the work of a team of developers. Set technical standards, conduct design and code reviews, and unblock the team. Hands-on Engineering: Write production-quality code in C# / .NET, integrate with Azure services, and build / consume data products on Databricks where required. AI Tooling Adoption: Define and champion best practices for incorporating AI coding assistants into the SDLC - prompt patterns, review gates, and quality controls. Requirements
10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in object-oriented design, distributed systems, and modern application architecture. Proven hands-on expertise in the Microsoft stack - C# / .NET (.NET Core / .NET 6+), ASP.NET, Web APIs, Entity Framework. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, DevOps / pipelines). Hands-on experience with Databricks - notebooks, Delta Lake, Spark (PySpark or Scala), and integration with downstream applications. Demonstrated experience working in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain - broker, carrier, MGA, or insurance technology vendor. Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to ship real software - not just experimentation. Proven people-management and technical leadership experience - guiding, mentoring, and being accountable for the output of a developer team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak comfortably with both engineers and senior business stakeholders. Nice to Have Experience with policy administration, rating, or broker management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, Sagitta, Duck Creek, Guidewire). Exposure to ACORD data standards, submission ingestion, or document automation. Experience designing AI / LLM-powered features (RAG, agents, document understanding) in a regulated enterprise setting. Background in Agile / Scrum delivery with strong DevOps discipline.
