Job description

MJB Recruiting is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect for a major State of Michigan enterprise cloud migration initiative supporting large-scale AWS modernization and CI/CD automation efforts.

This is a highly technical, hands-on cloud engineering and architecture role focused on AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes/EKS, GitOps, Azure DevOps pipelines, Terraform, and enterprise cloud migration delivery.

IMPORTANT:

  • Hybrid role - onsite in Lansing, MI required from Day 1 (2 days/week)
  • NO remote-only option
  • Local Michigan candidates strongly preferred
  • Non-local candidates must relocate at own expense
  • In-person interviews required
  • Interviews expected between 5/25 - 5/29
  • Submission deadline: 5/20/26 at 10:00 AM EST, * Lead AWS platform configuration and enterprise cloud migration initiatives
  • Build and manage AWS Elastic Beanstalk, EKS, EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager environments
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, Flux, GitOps, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform (preferred)
  • Configure observability, logging, alerting, monitoring, and production support readiness
  • Partner closely with application development teams, infrastructure teams, DBA teams, and technical leadership
  • Produce architecture documentation, operational runbooks, and deployment standards

Requirements

Do you have experience in YAML?, * 5-6+ years hands-on AWS production experience

  • Strong Kubernetes/EKS administration and troubleshooting experience
  • Production GitOps experience with ArgoCD or Flux (required)
  • Strong Azure DevOps Pipeline (YAML) experience
  • Docker/containerization expertise
  • Terraform or CloudFormation Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Linux administration and shell scripting
  • Strong Git/source control experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps certifications
  • CKA or CKAD certifications
  • Experience migrating .NET or Java applications to AWS
  • Experience with DataDog, Splunk, New Relic, Istio, Vault, or API gateways
