Job description

The Benefits Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical administration, configuration, integration, and optimization of employee benefits systems and related HR technologies. This role bridges Human Resources and IT, ensuring accurate data management, secure system operations, compliance reporting, and seamless integration between HRIS, payroll, and benefits platforms. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. Job Duties, * Administer and maintain benefits modules within HRIS platforms.

  • Configure eligibility rules, plan designs, enrollment workflows, and system updates.
  • Manage system integrations between HRIS, payroll, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Monitor data feeds (EDI files) to insurance carriers and troubleshoot transmission errors.
  • Maintain system security roles and access controls for benefits data.
  • Ensure data integrity across HR, payroll, and benefits systems.
  • Generate compliance and management reports (ACA, COBRA, 401(k), audit reporting).
  • Perform regular system audits and reconciliations.
  • Analyze benefits data for trends and accuracy.
  • Serve as support for benefits-related system issues.
  • Partner with IT on upgrades, patches, testing, and implementations.
  • Document system processes and configuration changes.
  • Support open enrollment system testing and deployment.
  • Ensure systems comply with ACA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of employee benefits data.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Participate in system upgrades and benefits implementations.
  • Lead or support benefits technology improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate vendor system enhancements and integrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in HRIS, benefits systems administration, or IT systems administration.
