Job description

Collins Aerospace is seeking engineers to be part of an engineering team for the AF DCGS High Band Mission Applications Software (HBMAS) Sustainment and Development program. Under this effort, Collins Aerospace personnel will oversee/perform software development and sustainment for cloud-enabled systems that ingest, tag, and audit data sets, while maintaining security, integrity, and availability of data. The team, working with our customers and users, will focus on developing and fielding operationally relevant system capabilities in the most effective and efficient manner. The team will apply best practices across the engineering continuum, with a focus on improved software quality and process efficiency.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform moderately complex analysis, architecture, design, development, testing, and debugging of software

  • Support system integration and recommend products for integration

  • Develop system level scripts in various common languages

  • Monitor the implementation of security requirements for government and industry facilities and systems.

  • Participate in special projects as required

Requirements

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, RHEL 8+ preferred

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following:

  • Java, JavaScript, C++, Python, Shell Scripting

  • Ansible (or equivalent PaaS language), JSON, XML, YAML, MDB or SQL

  • Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Virtualization: vSphere

  • Containerization: Docker/Podman

  • Orchestration: Kubernetes, OpenShift/Rancher

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following:

  • Application Servers: JBoss, Jetty

  • Database: MongoDB, Oracle

  • Experience with modern DevSecOps practices

  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies

  • Ability to design and implement modular, maintainable software solutions that adhere to team coding standards and design principles

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design, RESTful APIs, and distributed software architectures

  • Understanding of security technologies and concepts, experience in design and implementation of secure network solutions

  • Knowledge of Information Assurance and Information Operations technologies and development activities.

  • Understanding of the processes and guidelines for Certifying & Accrediting (ICD 503/DITSCAP/DIACAP/DCID 6/3) information systems based upon experience on development programs.

  • Possesses or quickly develops a comprehensive understanding of Government Information Security policies, regulations, and guidelines.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications

  • Must be able to work collaboratively across agencies and physical locations

  • Travel to customer sites as required (CONUS & OCONUS)

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience supporting AF-DCGS

  • Experience supporting Intelligence or DoD

  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams

  • Experience with process development and deployment

  • Familiarity with Apache Nifi, RedHat UBI, ActiveMQ

  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Software Development

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
