Job description
The postholder will be based in the Machine Learning Section within the Department of Computer Science at UCL. The Section is managing five M.Sc. programmes: Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development, Artificial Intelligence for Biomedicine and Healthcare, Machine Learning, Data Science and Machine Learning, and Computational Statistics and Machine Learning.
The primary purpose of the role relates to the supervision of M.Sc. dissertation. Students undertake a 3-month research project (June-September). Projects can be (i) research-intensive, developing academic research on cutting-edge problems in finance and computing, or (ii) part of the UCL Industry Exchange Scheme (IXN), where students work alongside an industry and academic supervisor on industry-relevant projects.
There are five part-time temporary posts available starting in June 2026 and finishing at the end of September 2026: 3 posts at (0.2fte) and 2 posts at (0.1fte).
Funding is available for all post until 30th September 2026 in the first instance.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Time management?, Do you have a Doctoral degree?, The post holder should have strong subject knowledge in areas closely related to Machine Learning, Sustainable Development, AI for healthcare enabling contributions to the Section's teaching and research activities. A PhD in a relevant discipline or significant research and development experience in an academic or industry setting is desirable.
The post holder should demonstrate evidence of high-quality research activity, including peer-reviewed publications or equivalent outputs in computer science or related fields. Experience in teaching and supervising undergraduate or postgraduate students is desirable. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, as are effective time management skills.
