With a growing pipeline of projects and clear plans to expand the business, this role offers the chance to play a key part in supporting Apatura's next stage of growth., This role provides reliable, day-to-day IT support across the business, ensuring colleagues have the tools and technical assistance they need to work effectively. With increasing demand driven by business growth, the rollout of Teams Rooms, and an ageing device estate, the IT Technician will provide hands-on support in the Edinburgh office alongside remote support where possible. The role also supports the wider IT function by resolving routine issues, maintaining equipment, and improving business processes.
What you'll do
- Serve as the first line of support for hardware, software, and network issues via email, phone, and in-person channels.
- Log, prioritize, and escalate tickets as needed using an IT service management (ITSM) system.
- Set up, configure, and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Assist with the onboarding/offboarding of users, including account creation, hardware allocation, and access permissions.
- Support and maintain user access to systems such as email and cloud storage.
- Monitor system alerts and log issues proactively to prevent downtime.
- Provide basic support for Office 365 applications.
- Document support processes, recurring issues, and solutions in the internal knowledge base.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, We're looking for someone who is technically curious, customer-focused, and keen to grow their career in IT., * Experience supporting and maintaining IT hardware and devices
- Exposure to software management, including updates and patching
- A basic understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g. IP addressing, DNS, DHCP)
- Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Familiarity with user management tools such as Active Directory or Office 365
- An understanding of data protection and security principles (e.g. GDPR)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting
- Good communication skills, with a focus on providing a positive user experience
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ITIL best practice
- Awareness of emerging technologies, including the application of AI
- An interest in developing skills in areas such as software, databases, or cybersecurity
- Relevant IT qualifications (Level 3 or above), or equivalent hands-on experience
- Specialist qualifications for software or services (e.g. Microsoft, Google, AWS)
