Job description

The Technical Services Engineer provides operational support across the IT/OT environment, working alongside IT Specialists to ensure the stability and effectiveness of IT systems and services. The role encompasses infrastructure maintenance, cybersecurity support, device configuration, troubleshooting, client support, scripting of data extracts, and development of internal tools to improve operational efficiency. The position also involves maintaining day-to-day operations, supporting process improvements, and assisting with out-of-hours incidents, with the overall objective of enhancing service reliability, security, and operational performance., * Support infrastructure maintenance, patching, updates, and routine checks

  • Assist with cybersecurity controls, secure configuration, and compliance tasks
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IT and OT devices and services
  • Provide technical support for client issues, incidents, and service requests
  • Investigate faults and help resolve operational and system issues
  • Produce scripts for data extracts, reporting, and repetitive support tasks
  • Develop internal tools to improve support and operational processes
  • Support monitoring, alerting, and incident response across services
  • Maintain accurate technical records, procedures, and support documentation
  • Assist with system improvements, standardisation, and service resilience
  • Work with Engineering and IT teams on integrations and operational changes
  • Support important out-of-hours alerts and incidents where required

Requirements

Do you have experience in Microsoft Windows Server?, * Qualification in Computer Science, Data Engineering, IT, or related field

Technical Skills:

  • Windows Server support
  • Infrastructure maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Device setup, configuration, and support
  • Networking fundamentals, including IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and routing awareness
  • Incident response and fault diagnosis
  • Patch management and update processes
  • Cybersecurity good practice
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Basic C#, JavaScript, or similar tooling development
  • Data extracts, reporting, and file handling
  • Technical documentation and procedure writing
  • OT device support awareness
  • Azure or cloud platform awareness
  • Database query or extract skills

Relevant Experience:

  • Strong experience in a hands-on IT support or technical services role
  • Good understanding of systems, infrastructure, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with device setup, configuration, and maintenance
  • Understanding of cybersecurity good practice and secure administration
  • Experience supporting incidents, service issues, and user requests
  • Ability to produce scripts or tools to support operational tasks
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Calm and methodical during incidents and operational issues
  • Clear documentation skills and accurate record keeping
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well with engineers, IT teams, and clients
  • Proactive, dependable, and security-conscious
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Willing to support out-of-hours alerts and incidents
  • Commercial awareness of the industries we operate in

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with PowerShell, C#, JavaScript, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with database platforms and data extracts
  • Exposure to infrastructure monitoring and alerting platforms
  • Experience with Azure or cloud-hosted services
  • Awareness of cybersecurity frameworks or compliance standards
  • Experience developing internal support tools or utilities
  • Exposure to OT environments or industrial systems
  • Experience using AI/Copilot tools responsibly
