Job description

The Technology Operations Manager is a part-time, hands-on role responsible for managing and supporting the firm's technology environment. This position serves as the firm's primary IT resource, working in partnership with outsourced managed services providers to ensure systems, networks, and data remain secure, stable, and efficient.

This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional who is comfortable balancing direct technical responsibilities with vendor coordination and operational planning in a law-firm environment.

Role Scope & Time Commitment:

This is a part-time position with primary responsibility for the firm's IT operations. While the role includes direct involvement in daily technology support and system maintenance, responsibilities are managed through a combination of scheduled working hours, coordination with managed services providers, and prioritization based on firm needs.

The role is not intended to provide constant on-site coverage, but rather consistent, reliable support with flexibility. On-call availability is required for critical issues while routine tasks and maintenance are handled during agreed-upon working hours., * Serve as the firm's primary IT resource, working in partnership with managed services providers

  • Handle routine helpdesk tickets and provide day-to-day technical support for attorneys and staff
  • Perform hands-on setup and configuration of end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, phones, printers, and AV equipment
  • Manage daily workstation configuration, patching, and updates
  • Perform server patch deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Monitor and respond to real-time endpoint security alerts, coordinating remediation and escalation as needed
  • Provide on-call IT coverage for critical system issues
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding, including user accounts, permissions, access controls, and security settings
  • Support and maintain on-prem and cloud systems, including servers, virtual machines, and network infrastructure
  • Respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents in coordination with vendors and managed services partners
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery processes, and periodic testing
  • Support legal-specific systems such as document management, docketing, and timekeeping platforms
  • Manage technology inventory, software licensing, renewals, and vendor relationships
  • Assist firm leadership with infrastructure planning, upgrades, and technology improvements

While this is a part-time role, it carries primary responsibility for hands-on IT support and system maintenance. Managed services providers are used to supplement-not replace-internal IT operations.
