Job description
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments;
- Manage SQL Server clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and disaster recovery configurations;
- Perform monthly patching, upgrades, and migrations while ensuring minimal downtime;
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues;
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies;
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure database reliability and compliance;
- Provide basic SAP Basis support, including SAP system administration tasks and coordination with SAP teams;
- Support SAP environments by reviewing ABAP dumps, monitoring batch jobs, and assisting with basic performance tuning;
- Assist functional teams with SAP-related technical issues and system health checks;
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and monitoring tools for proactive management;
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and runbooks;
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, We are presently seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator with SAP Basis who will work out of our corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, and is committed to ensuring overall business success and corporate governance technology needs of global OEM customers. Relocation is being offered. Must have SAP Basis experience (1 to 2 yrs). If SAP Basis skill set and information on using this skill set is not listed on resume or provided within the project experience, the resume will be rejected. IT is a MUST to include the SAP Basis experience in the summary of the resume and in the project /position experience please.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, SQL clustering, performance tuning, and database patching and maintenance. This role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of our SQL Server environments that support critical business applications. Basic SAP Basis experience is required, with the ability to support SAP system administration and collaborate with functional teams., * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience);
- 7+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments;
- Strong experience with SQL Server upgrades;
- Proven experience managing SQL Server clusters and Always On Availability Groups;
- Solid understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies;
- Experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory integration;
- Knowledge of database security, compliance standards, and data encryption practices;
- Experience performing patching, upgrades, and database migrations;
- Basic SAP Basis experience, including SAP system administration, batch job support, ABAP dump analysis, and basic performance tuning;
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills;
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting, Azure SQL, or cloud-based SQL services;
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SCOM, Redgate, SolarWinds, Idera);
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management procedures;
- Experience with SAP Security is a plus, * SAP Basis: 2 years (Required)
