What You Will Do

  • Performs diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of network and system issues, providing advanced escalation support to Helpdesk staff.
  • Provide on-site and field support for network connectivity, infrastructure maintenance, and organizational technology projects as assigned.
  • Configures, deploys, and replaces network hardware, including routers, switched, and access points, and assists with system updates and patch management under the direction of senior technical staff.
  • Administers and maintains network servers, storage systems, and related infrastructure in collaboration with the Systems Administrator to ensure operational continuity.
  • Conducts proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and preventative maintenance activities to optimize network performance and minimize service disruptions.
  • Participated in incident response, problem management, security monitoring, and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains accurate and comprehensive network documentation, including IP address assignments, topology maps, configuration records, and performance reports.
  • Contributes to departmental effectiveness by providing Helpdesk coverage as needed, maintaining accurate service records, and engaging in ongoing professional development activities related to networking and information technology systems.
  • Travel to organization sites as needed for installation maintenance, or troubleshooting activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Wireless networking?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Driver's license.

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the required education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience including servers or network management.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with troubleshooting network related issues.
  • Experience with network, and backup administration.
  • Experience working with and knowledge of HIPAA and Cyber Security.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to explain technical issues and topics to non-technical people. Training and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Takes initiative with the ability to work independently and be held accountable for outcomes.
  • Team oriented with ability to lead and guide teams plus work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Basic knowledge of project management.

  • Paid time off, Your experience and skills determine your base pay. The hiring range for this position is typically $63,600 - $79,500 annually. Candidates with extensive work experience related to this position may be considered for additional compensation up to the pay grade maximum of $95,400 annually. Based on the needs of the communities we serve, PHC offers a spectrum of medical and dental services including family practice, behavioral health, HIV care and services, and pharmacy. PHC's Homeless Support Services is the entry point for serving people experiencing homelessness in Polk County. Enabling services are available to help patients with benefits enrollment, case management, transportation, translation, and patient education. We currently have locations in Ames, Des Moines, & Marshalltown. As a Network Administrator, you will work as part of the IT Support Team to assist in the maintenance, optimization, and support of core network services, devices, and communications systems, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, SDWAN, and wireless infrastructure across the organization. This position collaborates closely with the Systems Administrator and network vendors to execute projects, provide technical support, respond to incidents, document changes, and participate in troubleshooting and performance improvement efforts. The Network Administrator provides both remote and on-site field support for network and connectivity issues at various organizational locations. During periods of lower network activity, this role also supports the Helpdesk team by providing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 assistance and field support, ensuring timely resolution of user issues and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Demonstrates PHC's iCare values in daily work. This position will be in person at our PHC Administrative offices in Des Moines, Iowa.
