The Opportunity

Balavant Insurance Group is seeking a Product Lead - Enterprise Data to help shape, manage, and advance the organization's enterprise data capabilities. This role will bridge business strategy, insurance operations, analytics, reporting, and technology execution.

The ideal candidate will bring strong insurance industry knowledge, data product ownership experience, and the ability to translate complex business needs into practical, scalable data solutions.

This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable supporting current-state reporting and analytics needs while also helping define and build future-state enterprise data platforms, governance standards, and data products.

The Product Lead - Enterprise Data will partner closely with business leaders, technology teams, finance, underwriting, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, accessible, meaningful, and aligned to business priorities.

Enterprise Data Product Leadership

  • Own and manage the roadmap for enterprise data products, reporting capabilities, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify data needs, prioritize initiatives, and define clear requirements.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable data product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
  • Serve as a bridge between business teams, technical teams, and leadership to ensure data solutions meet operational and strategic needs.
  • Support the development of scalable data products that improve visibility, decision-making, and operational efficiency.

Insurance Domain & Business Partnership

  • Apply knowledge of insurance operations, products, workflows, and performance metrics to data product design and delivery.
  • Partner with stakeholders across underwriting, finance, operations, claims, distribution, and leadership to understand business questions and reporting needs.
  • Support data needs related to operational KPIs, management reporting, regulatory reporting, financial reporting, and business performance tracking.
  • Help business teams define meaningful metrics, data definitions, and reporting standards.
  • Identify gaps between current data capabilities and future business needs.

Data Analysis, Reporting & Insights

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and analytical models using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and related platforms.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to support business decisions and operational priorities.
  • Assemble, reconcile, and validate data from multiple systems and sources.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities within enterprise data sets.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, consistent, and aligned with approved business definitions.

Data Quality, Governance & Documentation

  • Support the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain documentation for business rules, data definitions, reporting logic, data lineage, and transformation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, process flows, requirements documentation, and user-facing reference materials.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency, completeness, and usability.
  • Help establish processes for validating, reconciling, and governing critical data elements.

Platform, Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Work within the current technology stack, including Excel, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and related data/reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand data flows, source systems, integrations, and reporting environments.
  • Support system implementations and enhancements from a data perspective.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Recommend improvements to data capture, validation, distribution, and consumption process
  • Balance near-term business needs with long-term data architecture and scalability goals.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical documentation?, * Experience in data product ownership, data analytics, business intelligence, enterprise reporting, product management, or a related function.

  • Insurance industry experience with a strong understanding of insurance operations, products, workflows, metrics, and business processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, data manipulation, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable business intelligence/data visualization tools.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear data requirements and reporting specifications.
  • Strong documentation skills, including business requirements, data definitions, process flows, and reporting logic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving, and evolving business environments.
  • Hands-on, practical approach with a willingness to support both strategic initiatives and tactical execution., * Experience supporting data initiatives in an insurance company, MGA, carrier, brokerage, specialty insurance, or insurance services environment.
  • Familiarity with underwriting, policy administration, claims, finance, broker management, or operational reporting data.
  • Experience contributing to data governance, data quality, or enterprise data strategy initiatives.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, data migrations, or data integration projects.
  • Familiarity with agile product management practices, user stories, backlog management, and prioritization frameworks.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms, data warehouses, or modern analytics environments.
