Job description

  • This is a senior mechanical systems design role for fuel handling and process equipment in advanced reactors.
  • Responsibility for end-to-end system design, regulatory analysis, supplier management, and design package delivery.
  • Heavy emphasis on ASME Section III compliance, multidisciplinary integration, and technical leadership.
  • Leadership coordination with licensing, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams., * Design fuel handling systems from requirements through final design and fabrication specifications.
  • Coordinate review of thermal, seismic, structural, and pipe stress analyses; integrate into plant design delivery.
  • Provide design direction regarding thermal and fluid requirements for system performance.
  • Identify and ensure application of correct design codes (ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA) to system design.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers on nuclear and non-nuclear design standards.
  • Analyze and allocate regulatory criteria and standards to complex mechanical and process system design.
  • Support planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for design activities.
  • Create and manage P&IDs, 3D models, and system interface drawings.
  • Interface with design disciplines to identify and develop plant design information and system specifications.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight of supplier projects; coordinate technical reviews of deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain system requirements and specification documents.
  • Propose and manage testing programs for system qualification as needed.
  • Support test execution, evaluation of results, and test reporting.
  • Develop design packages including calculations, reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design specifications.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline; 10+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in design of complex mechanical systems, structures, and equipment.
  • Previous nuclear reactor or nuclear fuel handling system design experience required.
  • Experience with high-temperature and multidisciplinary integration highly desired.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to technical excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead design teams with minimal direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks requiring multidisciplinary approach.
  • Experience with ASME Section III standards.
  • Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.

Nice to Have:

  • Piping design and pipe stress analysis experience.
  • Thermal design and heat exchanger design background.
  • Experience with testing program planning and execution.
  • Leadership experience on large engineering projects.
