Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Senior Mainframe Systems Analyst / COBOL Developer to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications, ensuring seamless integration with modern systems and architectures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence enterprise-wide systems and contribute to strategic digital transformation initiatives., * Lead the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of COBOL-based mainframe applications within complex IT infrastructure environments.

  • Collaborate with solution architects to develop scalable system architectures aligned with service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles and enterprise standards.
  • Maintain and enhance existing mainframe systems by debugging code, optimizing performance, and implementing system hardening measures for security compliance.
  • Integrate mainframe applications with web services using RESTful APIs, SOAP protocols, and other middleware solutions to enable seamless data exchange across platforms.
  • Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for mainframe development using tools like Jenkins or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement system hardening strategies to ensure robust information security and compliance with cloud security standards.
  • Participate in system architecture planning for cloud migration initiatives involving AWS, Azure, or VMware virtualization environments.
  • Manage system administration tasks including load balancing, network configuration (VPNs, firewalls), DNS management, and operating system tuning for Linux/Windows environments.
  • Contribute to Agile development cycles by providing technical expertise in SDLC processes while working closely with cross-functional teams utilizing DevOps practices.
  • Develop detailed documentation for system design, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, * Proven experience as a Mainframe Systems Analyst or COBOL Developer with a strong background in legacy application modernization.

  • Extensive knowledge of COBOL programming language along with experience in JCL (Job Control Language), DB2/SQL databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL, and T-SQL for SQL Server environments.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture principles including microservices design, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and solution architecture frameworks.
  • Familiarity with modern IT infrastructure components such as virtualization (VMware ESXi), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Strong skills in scripting languages including Shell Scripting, Python, Bash (Unix shell), as well as experience with DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices including vulnerability management, threat intelligence, system hardening techniques, firewall configuration, VPNs, DNS management, and network security protocols.
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies and SDLC processes to deliver high-quality software solutions efficiently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues through debugging techniques across multiple operating systems including Windows and Linux environments.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders at all levels; ability to translate technical concepts into clear documentation.
