Job description

  • Infleqtion is seeking a DevOps / Platform Engineer to support the teams building the control system software for Infleqtion's quantum computers
  • This role works closely with software engineers, embedded systems engineers, and physicists to accelerate technology development by building and maintaining the infrastructure, automation, and tooling that underpin our systems
  • This is a highly technical, hands-on role supporting cutting-edge quantum computing systems, where requirements evolve quickly and the "right" solution is not always obvious at the outset
  • You'll be working in an environment that spans on-prem infrastructure, lab and scientific equipment, embedded systems, and production software, often simultaneously
  • Build and operate on-prem and hybrid infrastructure supporting quantum computing platforms
  • Administer Linux systems in both production and research environments
  • Manage servers, virtualization, and capacity from bare metal through VMs
  • Design, operate, and troubleshoot networking across compute systems, labs, and connected devices
  • Work with NAS/SAN and shared storage technologies to support stateful, high-throughput workloads
  • Develop and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration, testing, and deployment
  • Apply infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices
  • Support and integrate networked lab equipment, IoT-style devices, and specialized hardware
  • Collaborate across disciplines to support testing, deployment, and operational workflows
  • Participate in incident response and help drive iterative reliability and operability improvements
  • Incorporate security, hardening, and operational best practices as systems mature, * We're looking for engineers who are comfortable operating in uncertainty, who enjoy solving concrete problems, and who can help evolve systems from early solutions into robust, production-quality platforms over time

Requirements

  • We're open to candidates with different experience levels; strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly matter more than having every skill listed
  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE roles
  • Experience writing and debugging automation in Python, Bash, or similar languages
  • Meaningful experience operating on-prem or hybrid infrastructure
  • Strong Linux system administration experience
  • If you have substantially more experience than this and are excited to apply, please do - we will also consider hiring at the Senior DevOps Engineer level
  • Clear communicator who can document systems and participate in design discussions
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues spanning software, OS, networking, storage, and hardware
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI or equivalent
  • Database administration experience, especially PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB or similar time-series databases
  • Exposure to security, compliance, or regulated environments, including:
  • EAR / ITAR considerations
  • Secure system design or audit readiness
  • Experience with networked devices, IoT, or scientific / lab equipment
  • Familiarity with embedded software environments, including Yocto, Vivado, and cross-compilation workflows
  • Some experience administering Windows Server environments
  • Hands-on knowledge of: Virtualization platforms (VMware, Proxmox, KVM, etc.), Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, firewalling, DNS, DHCP, TLS), NAS/SAN and shared storage systems
