Developmental Disabilities and Special Needs as it pertains to the maintenance and up keep in the Lawn
Service's area.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to Director of Operations/ADS
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provides direct supervision for the individuals (consumers) in the enclave (Lawn Maintenance area).
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be required to perform physical restraint of individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors; ability to perform heavy lifting and lifting of adult individuals as necessary; ability to move intermittently throughout the work day; sitting, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and lifting with possible frequent repetitive motions; possible physical interventions with individuals who are upset and combative; is subject to lifting and carrying adult consumers.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to relate to and work with developmentally disabled individuals; is involved with personnel, visitors, and individuals under all conditions and circumstances; ability to communicate effectively with individuals served, families, co-workers, and visitors; is willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary; is willing to work in other positions as needed; Must be able to lift 50 pounds, maintains a liaison with individuals served, their families, support departments and other pertinent agencies; is subject to working in and out of doors, and may be subject to various temperature and weather conditions; is subject to working in loud environments and around equipment that may potentially cause bodily harm; may be subject to working with hazardous equipment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (includes but not limited to):

Maintain on a regular schedule all properties/grounds owned or operated by Dorchester County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs to include Main Office parking lot and grounds in or around area.

Perform routine maintenance of lawns to include scheduled grass cutting, pruning trees, shrubbery and bushes. Type of grounds maintenance of facilities may vary from season to season.

Maintain weed and grass growth in and around trees, shrubbery and bushes to include regular scheduled weed eating.

Keep straw and other debris on a regular basis to include blowing of debris from driveway, sidewalks, steps, porches and street side of yard.

Maintain control of, destroy or prevent ants and other insects by use of appropriate insecticides as necessary.

Keep all lawns/yards free from trash and debris at all times.

Maintain all equipment ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition at all times. This includes changing of oil and greasing of equipment on a regular basis. Report any problems with equipment or grounds to Director of Operations/ADS immediately.

Maintain required records in regards to work performed, hours and vehicle mileage as well as program documentation (i.e. behavior support plan, training data, etc.). Documentation done in THERAP.

Participate in any in-service programs/training as required.

Follow established safety rules and policies of Dorchester County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.

Pick up work order request daily and established work priority, as well as meeting with the Director of Operations/ADS on a weekly basis.

Obtain purchase orders from the Purchasing Agent to purchase needed supplies/equipment for the area. All purchasing is to be in line with the procurement policies set forth by Dorchester County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations/ADS, Hours: 0-40 hours per week with time spent primarily between the hours of 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. Summertime hours may vary. Director of Operations/ADS will notify DSP/LES of change in hours due to the season. Although the listed hours are typical hours for this position, projects may arise which must take place outside of such hours. In this case, scheduling may be flexible in order to accommodate the needs.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Outdoor work?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner; ability to relate harmoniously to co-workers and the ability to treat consumers with patience, dignity and respect.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Healthcare preferred
Certificate/License: None
Other: Valid SC Drivers License
