Job description
This is a senior, high-visibility hire. You'll own management accounting across our three business arms - bespoke projects, ecommerce and trade - reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside a part-time Financial Controller. Critically, you'll also be the architect of our data capability: pulling together multiple data streams and building the dashboards and KPI frameworks that give leadership real-time clarity across the business.
There's real scope here. As the finance function grows around you, so does the role - this is a genuine pathway to leading a team, not just a job that plateaus at the job description.
What you'll be doing
-
Owning the monthly management accounts cycle across projects, ecommerce and trade - departmental performance, variance analysis, clear commentary for the CEO
-
Building and maintaining dashboards that integrate multiple data streams and give live KPI visibility across all three arms of the business
-
Turning financial and operational data into insight that changes how decisions get made - surfacing risks, spotting opportunities, challenging assumptions
-
Managing month-end close - accruals, prepayments, continuous improvement in process
-
Supporting budgeting and forecasting, with performance-vs-budget monitoring and a narrative that actually means something
-
Project and cost accounting - margin visibility across bespoke installs, materials and trade orders
-
Finance business partnering across the business - making numbers useful for non-finance people
-
Day-to-day working with and oversight of the part-time Financial Controller
Requirements
Do you have experience in Tableau?, A qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) - or someone with a strong enough track record that the letters are a detail
-
Genuine strength in data analytics and dashboard building - Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau or similar; this is central to the role, not a bonus
-
Experience using Claude, Chat GPT and/or Gemini to analyse data and build dashboards
-
Experience across a multi-revenue-stream business - you'll need to hold complexity across projects, ecommerce and trade simultaneously
-
Confident presenting directly to a CEO - clear, concise, no hiding behind the spreadsheet
-
Someone who gets restless with inefficiency and actually does something about it
-
Enthusiasm for being part of something that's still being built - you won't just be inheriting a process, you'll be building and shaping one
-
Fine with dogs in the office (there are usually a few - they're very well behaved)
