Senior Django Developer - Full Stack (React Native)

This is a backend-first role. Our Django backend is the engine of CCN - a sophisticated, production-grade system handling multi-tenancy, subscription management, Discord OAuth and role management, push notifications at volume, restock alerting, and a custom app lead system for marketing. It is well-architected, fully documented, Dockerised, and running on AWS ECS. You will own it completely.

The React Native (Expo Bare) app is part of the role too, but the backend is where the real weight sits. We need someone who arrives with genuine Django and Python confidence - not someone learning on the job while inheriting a complex system.

You'll be taking over from a freelance development team with a structured handover period in place. We're not looking for someone who clocks in and clocks out. We want someone who buys into the product, cares deeply about craft, and wants to build something truly world-class.

What You'll Be Doing

• Take full technical ownership of the Django backend and React Native app
• Lead a structured handover from the existing freelance team, deeply understanding our multi-tenant architecture and core systems before they step back
• Build and maintain scalable, production-grade systems capable of supporting rapid international growth
• Own infrastructure decisions on AWS - performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and security
• Set coding standards, review processes, and deployment pipelines that raise the bar across the entire codebase
• Collaborate closely with the founding team on product direction, technical feasibility, and roadmap planning

Do you have experience in SQL?, * Production Django and Python experience - real systems under real load, not side projects. This is non-negotiable.

• React Native (Expo Bare) experience - or strong mobile experience with a credible path to getting productive quickly
• Deep understanding of Django's ORM, multi-tenancy patterns, background task management (Celery), and how your database behaves under load
• Fluency with AWS infrastructure and Docker-based deployments
• Solid SQL knowledge - schema design, query optimisation, and databases at scale
• A track record of writing code that others can inherit, maintain, and build on
• Fluent with modern AI coding tools - Claude Code, Cursor, and similar. We actively embrace these to accelerate development, but we want someone who uses them with full understanding. You read every change, cross-check it against your own judgement, and never let generated code slip through that you can't defend.

• Salary: £70,000 - £95,000 depending on experience
• Full-time, Monday to Friday - hybrid from Manchester
