Machine Learning Engineer I

Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Junior Machine Learning Engineer/Data Scientist to join our Information Technology team. This candidate will help build, deploy, and maintain machine learning solutions. This role is highly technical and hands-on, focusing on end-to-end ML lifecycle development-from data ingestion and feature engineering to model deployment and monitoring in Azure. Location: This position will be based out of our Conshohocken, PA office. Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you'll be doing: Machine Learning & Modeling Develop, train, and evaluate ML models using Python (scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) Implement feature engineering pipelines for structured insurance datasets Perform model validation, hyperparameter tuning, and performance optimization Apply statistical techniques and experimentation methodologies Azure-Based Data & ML Engineering Build and manage ML workflows using Azure Machine Learning (Azure ML) Work with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and Azure Blob Storage for large-scale data processing Develop data pipelines using Azure Data Factory or Azure Synapse Utilize Databricks (PySpark) for distributed data processing (preferred) Model Deployment & ML Ops Deploy models using Azure ML endpoints or containerized services Support CI/CD pipelines for ML workflows (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) Monitor models for performance, drift, and reliability in production Maintain model versioning, experiment tracking, and reproducibility (e.g., ML flow) Software Engineering Write production-quality Python code with modular design and testing Use Git for version control and collaborate via code reviews Package ML models and pipelines for scalability and reuse What you'll bring, Role Overview As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will leverage your advanced technical skills to design, develop, and optimize state-of-the-art machine learning models.
