Job description

The Network Engineer will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain district network systems, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.
  • Install, configure, and support network hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot fiber network infrastructure and related systems.
  • Support network security through monitoring, filtering, and system updates.
  • Identify and respond to network-related performance issues and security incidents.
  • Administer and troubleshoot telecommunications systems, including phone and video infrastructure.
  • Support district-wide systems such as clock synchronization and emergency messaging platforms.
  • Respond to service requests and provide timely resolution of connectivity issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal IT staff on system upgrades, installations, and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation for network systems and procedures.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for complex or districtwide system issues. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

This position plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of network and communications systems that support teaching, learning, and daily operations across the district., To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting network infrastructure and systems.

  • Working knowledge of LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and deployment.

  • Experience with network hardware and infrastructure troubleshooting.

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors. PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, networking, or a related field.

  • Industry certifications such as Network+, Fortinet, Extreme Networks, or Microsoft.

  • Experience with network security systems, filtering tools, and monitoring platforms.

  • Familiarity with virtualization environments and directory services.
