Job description
Based in Mesa, AZ, you will serve as the technical steward for DO-254 compliance on hardware within multi-disciplinary defense training solutions. Your work spans planning, documentation, verification, traceability, and certification readiness across the complete hardware lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with systems, hardware, test, and configuration management teams to ensure our designs meet rigorous aerospace and defense standards., Morning stand-ups align you with engineering teams on design assurance and configuration status. Midday, you're decomposing complex systems requirements, allocating them to specialized teams, and ensuring each is testable, traceable, and validated. In the afternoon, you author a test plan, review a Fault Tree Analysis, and prepare for an upcoming on-site test event. Throughout, you keep certification objectives in focus and help the team maintain impeccable documentation aligned to DO-254 and applicable MIL/DO standards., * Own DO-254 planning and design assurance activities for hardware, from concept through certification.
- Oversee Design Assurance Level (DAL) allocation and compliance throughout the hardware lifecycle.
- Plan and perform technical analyses, including FEW, ELA, FMECA, and Fault Tree Analysis, to evaluate design robustness.
- Develop and maintain white papers, test plans, verification procedures, technical documents, and test reports.
- Decompose and allocate project-specific systems engineering requirements to discipline teams; ensure each requirement is testable, traceable, validated, and maintained; support robust integration in a system-of-systems environment.
- Apply MIL-STD and DO- series standards and related regulations to drive compliance and certification readiness.
- Lead and support on-site and in-house testing events; capture results and non-conformances with precision.
- Contribute cross-functionally and take on additional related responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Do you have experience in White papers?, * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline (strongly preferred).
- 3+ years in systems engineering or a comparable lead engineering capacity.
- Hands-on familiarity with MIL and DO standards and their practical application.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and extract the technical detail required for comprehensive documentation.
- Working knowledge of data I/O and equipment interfaces.
- Desired: experience with 3D modeling, mechanical design, electro-mechanical interfaces, and/or structural analyses.
- Broad foundation across digital and analog electronics and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot circuits when necessary.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Clear communicator who can interface comfortably with leadership, program managers, and customers.
- Background in military service or government contracting preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (required).
