Job description

SMS is seeking a Principal RADAR Real-Time Software Engineer to provide hands-on leadership in the development, implementation, and integration of command and control (C2) and real-time sensor processing solutions for advanced multi-function Radar systems. In this role, your team will implement and integrate digital signal processing over the complete signal processing chain for closed loop radar operations. You will conduct performance analysis through simulations and real-world testing to validate and optimize the products you create. Since the system will be deployed in operationally, the products you develop need to meet standards of quality, maintainability, and reuse. This position will offer the opportunity for technical growth in terms of system design, novel implementations, integration, and fielding of Radar and control systems., * Lead development of innovative radar systems through implementation of digital signal processing (DSP), tracking, and command and control software

  • Support system level integration with Hardware in the Loop testing, and fielding of ground system for closed loop operations
  • Provide direction for a distributed software development team that includes resources across company divisions and groups
  • Collaborate with the project chief engineer to ensure alignment between technical requirements and software implementations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and/or develop system requirements and specifications
  • Conduct performance analysis through simulations and real-world testing to validate and optimize system performance
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to convey technical concepts and project updates
  • Support documentation, design specifications, test plans, and reports as needed

Requirements

Do you have experience in Cross-functional communication?, A successful candidate will have demonstrated contributions in areas such as: software engineering, system integration, Radar signal processing, and test & evaluation. This position requires skills in working with multi-disciplinary teams, interest in signal processing, and ability to develop and deliver system solutions for operations. Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills are required. Applicant is expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented, and has a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate., * Ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of related experience (or a MS and 8+ years)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing software engineering solutions in C/C++
  • Working knowledge of digital signal processing or the implementation of other mathematically complex algorithms
  • Experience in preparing and delivering briefings, familiarity with the execution of technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMS)

Even Better:

  • Applicable understanding of and experience with Radar systems and their principles of design, development, requirements verification, test planning, test execution, and data analysis
  • Experience with algorithm implementation in software for real-time systems, especially radar and/or remote sensing
  • Experience with MATLAB, CUDA or embedded software
  • Experience working with embedded systems and FPGAs
  • Capable of working in a team environment and interacting with team members to ensure effective communication and alignment

Benefits & conditions

Full-Time Salary Range: $206,000 - $284,000

The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
