Job description

Northwest Helicopters LLC is looking to hire a Google Apps Script & Business Systems Developer / Administrative Support team member. Are you a hands-on, detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys building practical systems, improving business workflows, and supporting a busy office team? If so, we may be the place you have been looking for.

This is a unique role that combines front office administrative support with the opportunity to take ownership of an in-progress Google Apps Script web application that is being built to support key company operations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, able to gather requirements from staff, translate real-world operational needs into reliable software tools, and assist with day-to-day office responsibilities.

Northwest Helicopters is also in the process of transitioning to Google Workspace, so experience working within the Google Workspace ecosystem is highly valuable. The successful candidate may help the company make effective use of tools such as Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, Gmail, Calendar, and related Workspace workflows as business processes continue to evolve.

The internal web application is not yet live and will require continued development, testing, refinement, documentation, and support through rollout. The person hired for this role will pick up where the current developer leaves off and work directly with Northwest Helicopters staff to complete the remaining requirements and maintain the system going forward.

Job DescriptionBusiness Systems / Web App Development

· Continue development of an existing Google Apps Script web application designed to support company operations

· Maintain and expand a substantial internal business system that includes workflows such as flight scheduling, quote generation, flight grid/calendar views, maintenance request and approval workflows, dispatch and post-flight submission processes, customer management, pilot, driver, and groundcrew assignment tools, and employee calendar/time-off tracking

· Work with staff to gather remaining requirements, clarify workflows, and turn operational needs into functional software features

· Write, update, test, and debug code using JavaScript, Google Apps Script, HTML/CSS, and Google Sheets as a structured data layer

· Maintain an organized, modular codebase and continue improving app reliability, performance, and usability

· Troubleshoot bugs, identify root causes, and implement thoughtful fixes

· Support user testing, rollout preparation, process documentation, and future maintenance

· Help ensure the application and related workflows align well with the company's ongoing adoption of Google Workspace

· Use modern development tools and workflows such as VS Code, Git/version control, PowerShell or terminal-based repository searches, logging, and performance diagnostics

Google Workspace Support / Workflow Improvement

· Support the company's ongoing transition to Google Workspace

· Assist with improving internal workflows using Google Workspace tools where appropriate

· Help staff make effective use of platforms such as Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar

· Identify opportunities where Workspace tools, automation, or Apps Script can reduce manual work and improve consistency

· Help organize, document, and support Google-based processes as they are adopted across the company

Administrative / Front Office Support

· Answer phones and assist callers professionally

· Assist with company credit card / VISA reconciliations

· Filing and document organization

· Order office supplies

· Sort and deliver mail

· Create brochures or other basic office materials as needed

· Provide general office and administrative support

· Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Do you have experience in Visual Studio Code?, · Familiarity with Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar in a business environment

· Strong working knowledge of JavaScript

· Strong spreadsheet and database-style thinking, including comfort with structured data, column-based records, lookups, validation, and workflow logic

· Experience building, maintaining, or troubleshooting internal tools, business applications, automations, or data-driven systems

· Ability to read and understand an existing codebase, identify how pieces connect, and make careful changes without breaking dependent workflows

· Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization

· Ability to gather business requirements from non-technical staff and translate them into clear, practical solutions

· Highly organized, dependable, and proactive

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Able to work independently while also supporting a team

· Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and workloads

· Professional in dress, speech, and mannerisms; business casual

· Comfortable balancing technical project work with front office administrative responsibilities

· Advanced computer skills and general comfort with office productivity tools

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Google Apps Script, especially Apps Script web apps

· Experience working in or supporting organizations that use Google Workspace

· Experience using Google Sheets as a backend/data layer for business tools

· Experience with HTML, CSS, and client-side JavaScript for interactive internal web interfaces

· Experience using Git and working in VS Code

· Familiarity with debugging logs, performance tuning, caching, and reducing unnecessary server or data calls

· Experience documenting systems, workflows, or handoff materials for long-term maintainability

· Background in operations, dispatch, aviation, scheduling, field service, or other workflow-heavy businesses is a plus, but not required, · Your previous experience related to the responsibilities, qualifications, and skills listed above

· Your experience with JavaScript, Google Apps Script, Google Workspace, internal business systems, or workflow automation

· Your comfort level balancing software development work with front office administrative support
