Job description

We are looking for an experienced Application Support & Integration Engineer to join our hybrid technology team. This is primarily a first line support role, sitting at the heart of our technology operations and acting as the first point of contact for issues raised by the business across our application estate and integration landscape.

You will be joining a collaborative and fast-paced technology team, working across a diverse portfolio of applications and integrations that sit at the core of our business operations. You will have ownership of your work, with clear escalation paths when dealing with third parties, and the opportunity to shape new solutions from the ground up. We value pragmatic problem solvers who communicate clearly and take pride in delivering reliable, well-managed systems.

You will own the triage and resolution of support tickets covering both in-house applications and third-party managed systems, managing issues through to fix or escalation. Alongside day-to-day support, you will maintain and enhance our integration and data flows, and work closely with business divisions to understand requirements, manage change processes, and deliver solutions through to live release.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:

Application Support

  • acting as first line support for the business, receiving and triaging tickets across in-house applications, third-party platforms, and integration services.
  • diagnosing and resolving issues promptly, escalating to third-party vendors where appropriate and managing those relationships through to resolution.
  • monitoring and responding to failures or anomalies in integration and data transfer processes, ensuring continuity of service.

Integration & Data Management

  • Designing, building, and maintaining integrations and data flows using platforms such as Boomi and GoAnywhere, as well as custom PHP solutions.
  • Connecting to and managing data transfer via APIs, SFTP/FTP servers, file shares, and AS2 connections.
  • Working with a broad range of structured and unstructured data formats as part of integration and data processing workflows.

Business Collaboration & Automation

  • Working alongside business divisions to gather and document requirements for process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Producing specifications and workflow designs for new application development.
  • Supporting the delivery of entirely new managed applications where required.

Requirements

Do you have experience in XSLT?, To be successful in this role you will have some of the following skills and experience and the desire to develop in other areas:

  • Solid experience supporting and developing in PHP for in-house application maintenance and integration work.
  • Ability to read and understand Java and/or C# codebases when working with third-party systems (preferred but not essential).
  • Confident working with Git for version control and following a structured change request process.
  • Experience using Jira for ticket management, change tracking, and project workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with integration or middleware platforms (e.g. Boomi, GoAnywhere, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of API connectivity (REST/SOAP) and managed file transfer protocols (SFTP, FTP, AS2).
  • Experience working with a range of structured and unstructured data formats within integration and data exchange contexts.
  • Ability to write and apply XSLT stylesheets for XML transformation and data mapping.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
