Job description

Matlen Silver is actively recruiting for an Production Support Engineer with experience supporting SRE environments and tools to work for our client's team in Plano, TX or Jersey City, NJ. You will be responsible for providing front line production support for SQL-based (Oracle) Java applications as well as supporting site reliability processes including application monitoring, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, latency, high availability, disaster recovery, automation, and capacity management. This includes responding to issues related to Problem/Incident Management, Release/Deployment, Operational Readiness, Application Monitoring, Production Governance related to issues. This role is a hybrid work model that requires 3 days onsite per week., * Provides monitoring and support for triaging application problems and coordinating with various support teams across the organization including activities related to application incident and problem management.

  • Performs root cause analysis and communicates with the line of business and management the overall status and health of the application throughout the support process.
  • Looks for areas of improvement in monitoring, application stability, and speed of determining root cause.
  • Performs troubleshooting, analysis, research and resolution using advanced query and scripting skills.
  • Work closely with Technology Infrastructure Teams, Development & Testing Teams in supporting Integrated / Independent releases, software/hardware upgrades, server upgrades.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant IT experience with exposure to L1/2 production support tasks.
  • Experience supporting Oracle/SQL, UNIX/Linux, and Java and/or .NET applications
  • Knowledge in SRE tools for monitoring and automation.
  • Understanding of Incident, Problem, Change management processes.
  • Experience with on-call support for triaging problems, coordinating with various support teams across the organization and carrying out activities related to incident and problem management.
  • Experience supporting Weblogic, Apache, or IIS web application servers is nice to have.
  • Experience supporting Autosys job scheduling tools is nice to have.
