Performs technical, mainly pre-defined tasks for accomplishing defined service delivery work for customer equipment.
This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As an Automation Informatics Consultant, you will be responsible for:
- Serving as a dedicated resource for a specific MegaLab customer, supporting Siemens automation and middleware solutions
- Providing onsite system configuration support including pre-installation, installation, training, troubleshooting, and post-implementation activities
- Supporting multiple operational shifts, including participation in on-call rotations
- Working closely with on-site Siemens Healthineers management and first, second, and third-shift personnel
- Responding to complex system issues requiring onsite presence and advanced troubleshooting
- Participating in planning activities for new installations, system expansions, and workflow design
- Providing training to customer laboratory personnel on system operation, workflow, and configuration
- Interacting routinely with Laboratory Managers, Supervisors, IT Administrators, LIS vendors, and 3rd-party middleware partners
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in meeting business objectives
- Supporting pre-installation and installation activities
- Understanding hospital enterprise IT and security environments
- Managing LIS interface communication and connectivity requirements
- Supporting customer-specific workflow configuration decisions
- Performing software installation, network setup, and application configuration
- Conducting verification and acceptance testing
- Delivering onsite and remote post-implementation support
- Following the Siemens Diagnostics escalation process
- Executing software upgrades and updates
- Participating in customer and internal meetings or conference calls
- Adhering to Siemens quality and regulatory policies
- Independently troubleshooting and resolving software malfunctions
- Responding positively to challenges with minimal assistance
- Seeking guidance from appropriate personnel when needed
- Adapting quickly and effectively to change
- Building a support network within Siemens to achieve results
Requirements
- Physical ports (Serial, USB, RJ-X, VGA/DisplayPort/HDMI, SATA, IDE)
- Serial-to-USB converters, memory, NICs, hard drives, optical drives
- Printer installation and UPS configuration
Computer Software:
- BIOS/UEFI
- Logical ports (Well Known, Registered, Dynamic/Private, COM)
- Client OS vs. Server OS
- Workgroups vs. Domains
- NIC, web browser, and RAID configuration
- Backup and recovery
Windows Operating Systems (Updated):
- Windows 10, Windows 11
- Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022
- Name resolution, Local Users/Groups, Administrative Tools, Troubleshooting utilities
Networking:
- Physical networking concepts: MAC addressing, LAN/WAN, switching, Internet access technologies
- Logical networking concepts: IP addressing, VLANs, routing, packets, subnets
- Network infrastructure: DNS, DHCP, proxy servers
Remote Access:
- RDP, SSH, VNC, VPN
Security Concepts:
- Encryption, authentication, certificates
- HIPAA, HITECH
- Firewalls, DMZ, HTTPS
General Skills:
- Strong understanding of OSI and TCP/IP networking models
- Effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
- Ability to perform in a large corporate environment and remain composed under pressure
- Adaptability in fast-changing environments
Required experience & education for this role:
- BS in Computing, Information Technology, Engineering, or related experience
- Experience in Healthcare IT, security, and data privacy
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Industry certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, MCP, Healthcare IT Technician (or ability to obtain within six months)
- Cloud technologies (SaaS, DaaS, IaaS) and virtualization
- Project management and financial analysis skills (ROI, NPV)
- MT or MLT laboratory experience or healthcare training experience

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
