Job description

Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Senior Engineering Support Specialist - Weapons Launcher Test Engineer position that just opened in Manassas, VA. In this role, you will support test and evaluation activities for submarine weapon launcher systems and associated tactical equipment across laboratory, shipboard, and field environments. You will work closely with government customers, internal engineering teams, and industry partners to ensure system performance, reliability, and mission readiness for Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) and Multi Tube Weapon Simulator (MTWS) programs. To be considered, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field plus relevant experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire., * Support test, integration, verification, and validation activities for submarine weapon launcher systems

  • Collaborate with CWL and MTWS engineers during system development, integration, and testing
  • Define, document, analyze, conduct, and interpret test events across laboratory, shipboard, and field environments
  • Identify functional issues and develop effective corrective solutions
  • Work within fast paced, integrated product development teams across multiple contractors and DoD laboratory organizations
  • Develop and analyze test cases and provide regular status updates to leadership
  • Support informal and formal test events, including customer driven demonstrations
  • Travel as needed to government and partner laboratories, shipyards, and submarine home ports (domestic and international)
  • Develop detailed test procedures and technical documentation
  • Utilize electrical measurement equipment including oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Perform verification and validation of corrective hardware, firmware, and software changes
  • Execute system installations, removals, testing, and validation activities
  • Configure laboratory environments according to engineering drawings and port maps
  • Identify, analyze, and document software, firmware, and hardware defects
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
  • Support logistics efforts including installation and operational procedure development
  • Provide field services support during shipboard and waterfront test events

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience (4 years of relevant job related experience) may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum of 2 additional years of relevant experience beyond baseline qualifications, or a Master's degree
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following systems:
  • AN/BLQ 10, * Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of test engineering concepts, principles, and methodologies
  • Experience with software testing and analysis
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming, system processes, and scripting languages
  • General knowledge of network configurations, operations, and command structures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Navy and/or submarine experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in mission-driven environments
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical information
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
