Senior Applications Developer (Data Architect)

The City of Pasadena Department of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Senior Applications Developer serving as a Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of the City's enterprise data ecosystem. This role is responsible for designing and managing enterprise data architecture, developing data pipelines, and administering SQL database environments that support enterprise applications, reporting and analytics platforms. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES To see a full description please refer to the Senior Applications Developer job descriptionDesign, develop, and maintain enterprise data architecture, including data models, integration frameworks, and scalable data platforms.Lead end-to-end enterprise reporting function, including architecting and governing the semantic data layer, standardizing metrics and visualization practices, enabling scalable self-service analytics, and ensuring reporting is accurate, trusted, and aligned with business needs.Design and maintain enterprise data pipelines to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple operational systems and external sources.Develop and maintain data warehouses, lakehouses, or modern analytics environments using platforms such as Microsoft Fabric.Oversee and guide enterprise database administration practices, including performance optimization, security, and resiliency for Microsoft SQL Server environments.Design and maintain curated datasets and semantic models to support dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI and other business intelligence tools.Serve as a strategic advisor to departments by translating business needs into scalable data architecture and reporting solutions.Document data architecture, data flows, database configurations, and reporting standards.Provide technical guidance and best practices related to database management, data engineering, analytics platforms, and reporting frameworks.Support implementation of enterprise data governance practices, including data quality, metadata management, and stewardship processes.Ensure data integrity and security.
