Job description

The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the reliability, security, and performance of the organization's network and systems infrastructure across multiple campuses. This position performs hands-on technical administration of network and server environments, supports IT service operations, manages technology assets, and coordinates vendor services under the direction of the Systems Technology Administrator.

This role is operational and technical in nature. Final decision-making authority regarding enterprise IT strategy, budgeting, vendor approvals, and organizational technology direction remains with the Systems Technology Administrator and executive leadership.

Essential Functions

Network & Infrastructure Administration

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and structured cabling.
  • Monitor network performance and respond to outages, service disruptions, and connectivity issues.
  • Support VLAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and related infrastructure configurations.
  • Install and maintain structured cabling and network hardware components.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, hardware installations, and system improvements.

Systems Administration

  • Administer server environments and directory services, including but not limited to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
  • Manage user account provisioning, access permissions, and credential security.
  • Apply software updates, patches, and system maintenance in accordance with security best practices.
  • Maintain system backups and assist in disaster recovery processes.

IT Service Operations

  • Oversee daily operation of the IT ticketing system.
  • Prioritize and escalate service requests in coordination with the Systems Technology Administrator.
  • Track service trends and contribute to continuous improvement of response times and service quality.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and internal knowledge resources.

Asset & Equipment Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of IT equipment across campuses.
  • Track device lifecycle, movement, assignment, and replacement schedules.
  • Support compliance documentation related to technology assets, including grant-funded or regulated inventory where applicable.
  • Transport, install, and deploy equipment between sites as operational needs require.

Vendor & Project Support

  • Coordinate with approved technology vendors and service providers.
  • Provide technical input during vendor discussions and infrastructure planning initiatives.
  • Support implementation of approved technology projects.

Advisory Support

  • Provide technical recommendations to the Systems Technology Administrator regarding infrastructure performance, risk mitigation, and operational improvements.
  • Participate in planning discussions as requested.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the team and organization.

General Duties

  • Provide professional and responsive customer service to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive organizational and student data.
  • Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Support cross-campus collaboration and maintain effective working relationships.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Network infrastructure?, * Minimum of three (3) years of IT support and/or infrastructure experience.

  • Experience supporting network and server environments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between campuses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of network infrastructure principles and protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a multi-site environment.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security standards., * Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco).
  • Experience in multi-site or education-based environments.
  • Experience with E-Rate or grant-related compliance documentation.

The position requires manual dexterity sufficient to install and configure technical equipment. The employee must be able to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to troubleshoot and diagnose technical systems is required.

This position operates in office and campus environments. Travel between facilities is required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support system maintenance or emergency response needs.
