- Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using hand tools and power tools to establish robust telecommunication links such as Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic cables.
- Conduct routine inspections of data center equipment, including servers, switches, power supplies, and low voltage systems to identify issues before they impact operations.
- Maintain detailed schematics and documentation for all installed systems and network layouts to support ongoing maintenance and future upgrades.
- Utilize CCTV systems for surveillance and security monitoring within the data center environment; respond promptly to any security alerts or anomalies.
- Assist with electrical work related to power distribution units (PDUs), circuit breakers, NEC compliance standards, and electrical safety protocols.
- Support field service activities by troubleshooting customer-reported issues related to network installation, equipment repair, or telecommunication services.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet protocols, and telephony systems such as Avaya and VoIP solutions.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and cabling standards like Cat5 and Cat6 wiring practices.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper networking equipment, and network schematics for installation and troubleshooting purposes.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing devices for equipment repair and maintenance.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working as a service technician in data centers or telecommunication environments with a focus on low voltage systems and NEC compliance standards.
- Knowledge of telecommunication infrastructure including telephony systems like Avaya or similar platforms; experience with power management systems is a plus.
