Job description

AMAG Technology is currently looking for a talented pre-sales engineer. The Application Engineer is a key technical resource responsible for supporting the design, deployment, integration, and ongoing performance of AMAG Technology's Symmetry Security Management solutions. This role works closely with customers, integrators, project teams, and internal engineering groups to ensure successful implementation of access control, video, intrusion, and identity management systems. The Application Engineer combines hands-on technical expertise with strong communication skills to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer requirements and align with AMAG best practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. · Conduct full-scale technical and operational workshops with end-users and integrators to understand how they do business, and what their pain points are.

· Work directly with key end-users to ensure they have the optimal system architecture.

· Understand all 3rd party integrations.

· Wireless lock design with Symmetry.

· Troubleshoot complex technical issues involving networking, databases, integrations, and system performance.

· Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to maintain system reliability and uptime.

· Configure and lead demonstrations of products and solutions to current and prospective customers, as the lead technical resource.

· Perform Pilots and Proof of Concept projects.

· Attend industry trade shows, participate in industry workgroups, and promote AMAG Technology.

· Work with the capture team on technical responses and content for proposals in response to RFPs, RFI's & RFQs.

· Work closely with the sales team and prospective customers as technical SME during sales calls and sales visits.

· Craft and deliver proposals, requirements documentation, and Architecture & Integration designs tailored to customer requirements.

· Assist with System Architecture Designs in support of AMAG Products in various HA and CA environments.

· Work with customers to determine and capture scope of work for feature enhancements, custom development, integrations, and Professional Services work.

· Deliver simple, easy to read optimal system design and list of parts that show our entire product line to our integrators and consultants.

· Collaborate with integrators and end-users to interpret technical requirements and translate them into scalable system designs.

· Assist in developing architecture diagrams, integration workflows, and configuration standards for customer deployments.

· Validate system designs against AMAG best practices, security requirements, and operational constraints.

· Have a fully functional test system, including all Symmetry core applications, panels, and readers with select 3rd party integrations.

· Support third-party integrations including PIAM platforms, video management systems, identity providers, HRIS systems, and custom API-based workflows.

· Assist customers and partners with API usage, data mapping, and troubleshooting integration failures.

· Participate in testing and validation of new integrations or enhancements.

· Build relationships with AMAG certified Dealers/Integrators and Consultants.

· Work directly with key end-users to understand their operations and ensure they have optimal system configurations.

· Build Relationships with AMAG RSMs.

· Deliver technical training, product demonstrations, and knowledge-transfer sessions to customers, integrators, and internal teams.

· Provide guidance on system configuration, operational workflows, and security best practices.

· Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle.

· Work closely with Product Management, providing feedback on potential product enhancements and market demands, as well as competitive direction.

· Work closely with Product Management, providing field level testing and feedback of new products.

· Work with Product Management and Engineering to escalate defects, validate fixes, and contribute to product improvement initiatives.

· Document configurations, test results, troubleshooting steps, and deployment procedures to support repeatable, high-quality implementations.

· Participate in internal technical reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required in order to be hired. These are requirements that we have determined are the minimum a candidate must have in order to be successful in this role.

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required:

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a similar role. Familiarity with Physical Access Control Systems, Video Management Systems, and Identity Management as well as other Enterprise Software is preferred. Strong networking background is a must. Previous experience with fortune 500 projects is a plus.

· Strong understanding of access control, identity management, and physical security systems.

· Proficiency with Windows Server environments, networking fundamentals, and system administration.

· Experience with SQL databases, queries, and diagnostic tools.

· Familiarity with REST APIs, data exchange formats (JSON/XML), and integration workflows.

· Knowledge of video management systems, intrusion systems, or PIAM platforms is a plus.

· Expertise with Database systems such as Microsoft SQL and Postgres.

· Expertise with Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows Server, and Linux based systems.

· Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

· Experience working directly with customers, integrators, or cross-functional project teams.

· Excellent documentation, organization, and time-management abilities.

· Familiarity with Federal Credentials & NERC CIP Compliance as it relates to Security systems.

OTHER RELATED ATTRIBUTES THAT WOULD ENHANCE HIRING CONSIDERATION:

These are other criteria that may enhance the hiring decision but would not rule out the candidate for consideration if not present.

· Prior experience with AMAG Symmetry or similar enterprise-grade access control platforms.

· Background in physical security, enterprise IT, or systems integration.

· Experience supporting large-scale, multi-site deployments.

· Certifications such as AMAG Symmetry certifications, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications are beneficial.

· University degree preferably in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience

· An understanding of security concepts and the development of security roles within organizations that meet functional, technical and regulatory requirements.

· Expertise with security systems and concepts, including Access Control, Identity and Visitor Management, Video, Intrusion, and other key Security applications.

· Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to customers including technical and non-technical personnel.

· Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and 3rd party product integrations.

· The ability to perform both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

· Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.

· Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage changing demands and timelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

· Office environment with little to no exposure to extreme heat or cold

· Major activities include working on PC while sitting, walking, standing, speaking, listening, & observing

· Physical effort is limited to include standing, bending, light lifting, & limited stretching

· Must be able to submit to drug screening to the extent permissible by law
