Job description

Responsible for developing solutions to complex problems on the cross-functional software product team. Make recommendations to improve delivering new features, bug fixes and enhancements to support Alaska's crew and crew administrators. Duties include applying knowledge as an engineer on a full-stack scrum delivery team; collaborating with product owners, designers and other engineers to solve complex technology and business problems; engineering, testing, deploying, and supporting complex, full-stack and mobile customer-facing software applications; and ensuring delivery of high-quality software by writing clean code and utilizing pair programming, test-driven development (TDD), and continuous integration/delivery. Actively engage in the technology industry, incorporating emerging technology into day-to-day work. Develop an understanding and working knowledge for the team's guest experience, business, and systems and will create solutions. Manage the infrastructure for software applications.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree* in computer science, engineering, or closely related field or the foreign degree equivalent; and 2 years of software engineering experience, including 2 years of experience in each of the following:

o Utilizing cloud computing, including Azure.

o Acting as a software engineer building custom, high scale, n-tier applications using object-orientated languages.

o Developing web or mobile applications using modern technologies.

o Utilizing appropriate design patterns to create clean, maintainable, and performant code.

o Interacting with Git version control to maintain organization and logging of codebase changes.

o Performing TDD, unit testing, pair programming, and other XP techniques.

*Employer will accept 2 years of software engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in the above fields.

SALARY: $180,710 per year

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
