Job description

We are seeking a Design Engineer II to join our Interconnect Solutions team in Beverly, MA. This role supports both our Connector and Cable Assembly product lines, offering the opportunity to work on a variety of electromechanical solutions across the full product development lifecycle., As a Design Engineer II, you will contribute to new product development and support existing products by:

  • Designing and developing interconnect solutions from concept through production release
  • Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
  • Supporting design reviews, verification, validation, and product qualification activities
  • Collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to ensure robust, cost-effective designs
  • Troubleshooting design and production issues and driving continuous improvement
  • Ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, quality, and schedule requirements

Specialization Tracks

Candidates may be aligned to one of the following areas based on experience and business needs:

Connector Design Focus

  • Lead mechanical design of electrical connectors and related components
  • Drive design trade-off studies and manufacturability considerations
  • Support full product lifecycle ownership from concept through production

Cable & Harness Design Focus

  • Design cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and over-molded interconnect solutions
  • Develop BOMs, routings, and support first-time builds
  • Create tooling concepts for injection molding and over-molding processes
  • Partner closely with manufacturing to resolve build and design challenges

Requirements

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer (2-4 years of experience) to contribute to innovative designs, collaborate cross-functionally, and grow within a dynamic engineering environment., * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 2-4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally, * Experience with interconnect products (connectors, cables, or harnesses)
  • Familiarity with CAD/PLM tools such as Creo, Windchill, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of prototyping, validation testing, or manufacturing processes

For Cable Focus:

  • Experience with cable/harness design or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
  • Background in injection molding or over-molding processes
  • Experience generating BOMs and supporting production builds

For Connector Focus:

  • Experience in mechanical design of connectors or similar components
  • Exposure to environmental or reliability testing, * Primarily sedentary work with occasional light lifting (up to 20 lbs)
  • Prolonged sitting or standing
  • Use of hands for computer and technical work
  • Occasional use of tools or movement within lab/manufacturing environments, * Bachelor's (Required), * CAD, Creo, Windchill, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD: 2 years (Required)
