Job description
As an your mission will be to define and champion the quality, reliability, performance, and security of Amount's core APIs and microservices. You will act as the go-to technical expert, setting the architectural standards for API test automation across the platform. A key focus will be leading the adoption and full-scale integration of AI-powered testing and analysis tools, moving beyond exploration to productionizing these capabilities to achieve step-change improvements in release velocity and quality coverage.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Own the end-to-end API Quality Strategy, defining the target state for reliability, performance, and security across all microservices.
- Execute automated and manual API tests (functional, performance, security, regression) using industry tools
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Build and maintain automation with frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, Selenium WebDriver
- Drive the adoption and integration of AI-powered QA tools to accelerate test case generation, preemptively detect defects, and optimize coverage across complex systems.
- Leverage API testing tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, SoapUI, JMeter
- Integrate automated API tests with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bamboo, Argo)
- Identify, document, and track defects and performance issues to resolution
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and external vendors to refine API design and resolve issues
- Monitor and analyze API performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
- Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, results, and defect reports
- Stay current with best practices in API testing and propose improvements to tools and processes
- Mentor mid-level and junior QA engineers on best practices in API automation, performance analysis, and root cause analysis of complex system failures.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant API testing or QA automation experience (Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred)
- Financial domain knowledge, understanding of loan originations, deposits, Small Business Loans and credit card products (similar to a product manager perspective)
- Advanced data management and analysis skills, including proficiency in SQL for complex data preparation, validation, and querying across relational and NoSQL databases for the purpose of test data management.
- Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex Excel sheets for the purpose of test case design and data preparation.
- Curiosity and openness to embedding AI into QA workflows, staying ahead of emerging best practices in quality engineering
- Strong understanding of API architectural styles (REST, SOAP, GraphQL) and data formats (JSON, XML)
- Proficiency with Java for scripting and automation
- Extensive, hands-on experience architecting and maintaining solutions using industry-standard API automation tools (Rest Assured, JUnit, TestNG) and performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, Argo) and version control (Git)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices architectures
- Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and query writing (SQL)
- Strong problem-solving skills to debug and resolve complex API issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across teams

The pay range for this full-time position is $95,190.00 - $159,900.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
