Job description
The Learning Systems Specialist provides technical leadership, support, and training for the district's core digital learning systems-including the Learning Management System (LMS), secure sign-on (SSO) and rostering platforms, and third-party digital curriculum resources. This position manages daily operations, integrations, and enhancements of these systems, ensuring that students, teachers, parents, and administrators have seamless access to digital learning resources. The Learning Systems Specialist works within the Information Systems department and collaborates closely with Teaching & Learning, Professional Learning, and school staff to ensure that data, analytics, and best practices drive the effective use of digital learning tools across the district., LMS Administration
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the district's LMS to ensure system reliability and performance
- Conduct regular data uploads, configuration updates, and troubleshooting to maintain an accurate and up-to-date system
- Manage LMS upgrades, integrations, and feature enhancements
- Develop and maintain procedures to ensure data security and systems integrity
Secure Sign-On/Rostering Administration & Third-Party Curriculum Resources
- Oversee the daily operation of Secure Sign-On/Rostering and third-party platforms
- Ensure accurate and timely data syncs between SIS and SSO/Rostering and other third-party platforms
- Coordinate with vendors and district teams to configure new integrations, manage user provisioning, and maintain security protocols
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Focus on continuous improvement by analyzing data, evaluating systems and timelines, and providing recommendations to refine procedures and strategies, including conducting root cause analysis
- Identify and recommend ways to optimize the use of various systems, collaborating with system representatives to explore updates and potential enhancements
- Prepare and present reports to district leadership, offering insights on platform adoption, engagement, and effectiveness
Technical Support & Training
- Serve as the primary technical resource for supported systems
- Create and maintain documentation, user guides, and online support materials tailored to teachers, students, parents, and administrators where needed
- Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities to ensure all stakeholders can effectively use supported platforms
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong relationships with supported vendors to ensure timely resolution of support issues and alignment with district needs
- Engage with department leaders, school administrators, supervisors, and staff to coordinate relevant processes, gather feedback, and participate in collaborative committees and groups
- Works with administration and staff to identify areas for increased efficiency and effectiveness within their scope of responsibility
- Develop and execute both short-term and long-term goals for assigned areas
Systems Integration & Scripting
- Leverage scripting and API tools (e.g., Python, Google Apps Script, Postman) to automate processes, customize functionalities, and streamline workflows within administered systems
- Evaluate and recommend additional integrations and single sign-on solutions that enhance the district's digital learning ecosystem
Compliance & Security
- Maintain awareness of data privacy laws, security protocols, and district policies, applying them to the configuration and use of digital learning systems
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent application of security measures and access controls
Requirements
1% of the base rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum, * High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years administering learning system platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems)
- Three years working in a public school district

- Technical proficiency with:
- Student Information Systems (Synergy preferred)
- Google Workspace and Microsoft platforms
- REST APIs and integration tools (e.g. Postman)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in non-technical terms
- Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Requires patience and the ability to manage potentially stressful situations
- Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment
- Frequent travel to schools across the district
- Occasional extended hours may be required
- Frequent interaction with administrators, school office personnel, and department leadership
- May be exposed to varying school site conditions, including active office, classroom, and campus environments
- Subject to frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and shifting deadlines
- Primarily office-based with standard office equipment
- Potential exposure to moderate noise levels typical of office environments
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Frequent walking, standing, and light physical activity
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and transporting (generally up to 25 pounds)
