If you are interested in providing IT support to a team of professionals, the Division of Legislative Audit is a great choice., Administers networks, applications, services, and hardware, including assisting with planning, design, modification, implementation, and security for the Division. Provides end-user support and training for Division employees. Works under general supervision, demonstrating initiative and independent judgment. These responsibilities require the incumbent to work in our Juneau office., * Maintains backups of all critical network components and files, ensuring that current backups are kept secure at an offsite location.
- Performs software and communication protocol upgrades on file, application, web, and database servers.
- Assists with the analysis, design, support, and maintenance of the Division's servers, networks, workstations, and connection to the state's Wide Area Network backbone.
- Provides end user support for all information technology products and services, including instructing and supporting end-users with hardware and software issues, and including after-hours and remote support.
- Troubleshoots and monitors networks, servers, and workstation computer software/hardware problems to maintain an efficient environment.
- Installs, secures, maintains, and supports computer software, hardware and peripherals.
- Develops and maintains documentation of the networks, servers, workstations, and software applications.
- Maintains IT inventory and monitors warranties and product lifecycles.
- Evaluates and tests new software and scripts in a network environment to assure their usefulness before recommending their purchase. Installs specialized software.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of the Division's websites.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Some travel will be required.
Requirements
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve network problems.
- Thorough knowledge of commonly used personal computer applications and peripherals.
- Thorough knowledge of current network and information technology techniques, network operating systems, personal computer hardware and software, and performance monitoring and capacity management tools.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
RECOMMENDED SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Microsoft Server
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, Virtual Apps & Desktops, and NetScaler
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, MTA etc.)
- Citrix certifications (CCA, CCP, CCE, etc.)
- CompTIA A+ certification, High school diploma or equivalent., Three years of work experience in which the primary responsibility of the position was planning, installation, modification and administration of networks, as well as experience in supporting current software and hardware products. OR (substitution) A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science or a related field may substitute for one year of the required work experience., Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements, if applicable. If utilizing this education you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. state university reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the state university. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
