Job description
The Systems Engineer provides the technical integration backbone for the program system, ensuring all hardware, software, network, and cloud components work together as a cohesive end-to-end solution from the vehicle-mounted data logger through the MCEN Azure cloud to the enterprise Jupiter/Advana dashboards. This role owns the systems architecture, interface definitions, integration testing, and configuration management for the complete program data pipeline. The Systems Engineer ensures that the Collect-Transmit-Store-Analyze-Act chain functions reliably across all environments, manages system engineering documentation, and leads troubleshooting of complex cross-domain issues. This individual works at the intersection of hardware (data loggers, WAPs, connectors), networking (MCEN, Wi-Fi), cloud infrastructure (Azure, Jupiter/Advana), and software (dashboards, AI/ML models) to maintain system integrity and support capability growth., Own and maintain the program systems architecture from data logger hardware through MCEN Azure cloud to Jupiter/Advana enterprise environments Define and manage interface specifications between system components: data loggers, WAPs, MCEN network, Azure cloud services, and Advana/Jupiter Lead systems integration and test activities at the SITF (Blount Island Command) and coordinate with LIF for commercial prototyping validation Support the dual ATO (MCPIC 2.0/3.0) by ensuring all system changes maintain cybersecurity compliance with NIST 800-53 rev5 controls and STIG requirements Manage the ETL data pipeline architecture from CAN bus data collection through processing, storage, and delivery to analytics and visualization layers Lead system-level troubleshooting for complex issues spanning hardware, networking, and cloud components Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation including system architecture diagrams, interface control documents, and test procedures Support EIA-649 Configuration Management processes through the Enterprise Configuration Control Board (ECCB), tracking all hardware configurations, software versions, and system changes Manage software development lifecycle activities per ISO/IEC 14764, including release management (emergency, iterative, and major releases) and source code deliverables Coordinate WAP-to-MCEN transition planning per PWS 3.3.4 and support wireless connectivity optimization across installation sites Support MIL-STD-882 system safety analysis for the program system, including hazard analysis for vehicle-mounted hardware Evaluate emerging technology integration (satellite tags, edge computing, autonomous systems) for future capability insertion
