Job description
The College of Business Administration (COBA) at Texas A&M University-Central Texas invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer of Computer Information Systems to start in June 2026. This is a professional track (non-tenure track) position that will have a nine-month contract with a separate summer contract.
The successful applicant will initially teach CIS courses (taught as continuing education/non-credit courses) in an innovative program under a contract between TAMU-CT and the U.S. Army. The successful candidate must be able to teach Programming Logic and Design, Web Site Development, and Java Programming, and other related areas in computer information systems as determined by department needs and individual qualifications. The courses will be delivered face-to-face in 10-week modules. The faculty member will be expected to lead in the conversion of the traditional for credit courses into the 10-week format prior to the fall start date of the program. If any traditional for-credit courses are assigned, they may be in other modalities and delivered on the semester basis. The faculty member will be expected to perform the duties regularly expected of a faculty member, including, but not limited to, meeting their courses as scheduled, holding regular office hours in accordance with program requirements, attending COBA and department meetings, and submitting syllabi and attendance verification on time as appropriate.
A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University-Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H-1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
