Job description
Precision Process is hiring an Applications Engineer to join our team. As an applications engineer, you will be supporting the sales organization by developing preliminary equipment concepts, cost estimates, and technical proposals for custom industrial process equipment. This role works closely with the Sales Executive to translate customer requirements into practical solutions, enabling accurate quoting and efficient proposal development., Equipment Concept Development
- Develop preliminary equipment layouts based on customer requirements
- Create process flow diagrams
- Evaluate feasibility of proposed solutions
- Identify major equipment components and system architecture
Cost Estimating
- Develop equipment cost estimates using internal cost models
- Estimate materials, fabrication, purchased components, and labor
- Maintain and improve estimating tools and costing databases
- Support budgetary and firm quotation development
Proposal Development
- Draft technical proposals and scope documents
- Prepare system descriptions, process explanations, and equipment specifications
- Coordinate input from sales, engineering, purchasing, and project management
- Assemble draft proposal packages for review by the Sales Executive
- Assist Sales Executive with technical preparation for customer discussions
Quotation Management
- Prepare smaller quotations directly (spare parts, service items)
- Maintain quotation records in CRM system
Internal Coordination
- Work with engineering team to ensure proposal concepts align with capabilities
- Interface with purchasing and vendors to obtain budgetary pricing
- Assist with transition of awarded projects to the engineering team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- 2-5 years experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, process equipment, and automation systems
- Cost estimating
- Excel-based cost models
- CAD (SolidWorks / AutoCAD or similar)
- Technical proposal writing
- Custom equipment
- Equipment engineering calculations
- Diagram and visualization software (Visio / PowerPoint), Excel, Word, ERP and CRM software
Working Conditions
- Environment may be high temperatures depending on ambient outside temperature

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday from 8am - 5pm, reporting to the VP, Director of Sales.
