The role requires rapid identification, triage, and escalation of incidents to ensure high availability and compliance with CJIS security and operational requirements.

The SNOC operates 24/7 and supports the CJIS campus through a large, collaborative operations team. Team members follow a modified Agile SAFe methodology to manage operational workflows, incident response, and continuous service improvement. This role works closely with network, system, and application teams to coordinate troubleshooting, document issues, and support restoration efforts, ensuring the stability and reliability of the FBI's CJIS infrastructure at all times.

Tasks:

  • Provide on-site/on-duty monitoring personnel where identified, for 24x7x365 services

  • Create and review network blueprints, including LANs, WANs, and cloud networks, including scalability, performance, and security requirements.

  • Assess new network hardware and software technologies, provide recommendations for upgrades or replacements based on emerging trends and business needs.

  • Identify and resolve network performance issues, analyzing network traffic patterns, and optimizing network configurations for optimal efficiency.

  • Identify potential network vulnerabilities, implementing security protocols, and advising on security best practices to protect sensitive data.

  • Forecast future network bandwidth needs and identify infrastructure upgrades to accommodate growing demands.

  • Act as a go-to person for complex network issues, provide technical guidance/training to other IT staff.

  • Monitor network implementation projects, including configuration, installation, and testing of new network components.

  • Developing network documentation and training materials for other team members.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation in Jira, Confluence, or any other document repository of network configurations, changes, and operational procedures.

  • Staff day/afternoon/midnight shifts.

  • Troubleshooting customer issues to identify and resolve root cause.

  • Perform issue resolution and standard operating procedure management.

Requirements

  • In lieu of degree, minimum of six (6) years relevant experience required.
  • In depth knowledge of cloud, network, security, and routing protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, VPN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and QoS.
  • Experience with WAN/LAN connectivity, routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Incident Management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or information technology preferred.
