Job description

The Systems Engineer role at HI-TEX Solutions is a senior engineering and client facing position responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing modern IT infrastructure across a diverse managed services client base. This role combines infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, cybersecurity integration, automation, project execution, and strategic client engagement.

Systems Engineers work closely with internal leadership, Account Managers, project teams, and service delivery teams to ensure customer environments remain secure, standardized, scalable, and aligned with operational and business goals.

This role serves as both a technical subject matter expert and a strategic technology advisor for assigned client accounts.

The ideal candidate is highly experienced with Microsoft cloud technologies, cybersecurity platforms, infrastructure modernization, automation, virtualization, networking, and compliance focused environments.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Design & Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and support modern Microsoft infrastructure solutions across client environments
  • Lead implementations involving Microsoft 365 E3, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, Conditional Access, endpoint security, and hybrid identity environments
  • Design and standardize secure infrastructure configurations across managed customer environments
  • Lead infrastructure modernization projects including server migrations, cloud transformations, virtualization upgrades, and platform consolidations
  • Support Microsoft Azure infrastructure, AWS infrastructure, hybrid cloud environments, and cloud migration initiatives
  • Implement secure networking solutions utilizing platforms such as WatchGuard, Calyptix, and Unifi
  • Design and maintain scalable endpoint management and device lifecycle solutions

Cybersecurity & Compliance Engineering

  • Integrate and support cybersecurity solutions including Duo MFA, ThreatLocker, Trend Micro Vision One, endpoint security, and security monitoring platforms
  • Participate in security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and operational risk reduction initiatives
  • Assist with customer environments subject to SOC 2, HIPAA, CJIS, NIST, and compliance related operational standards
  • Support implementation of security baselines, Conditional Access policies, DLP strategies, and endpoint compliance standards
  • Collaborate with leadership on security focused infrastructure planning and remediation efforts

Automation, Monitoring & Operational Efficiency

  • Develop advanced automation workflows utilizing ConnectWise Automate, PowerShell, Action1, and related operational platforms
  • Assist with standardization and lifecycle management initiatives utilizing Intune and reporting platforms
  • Collaborate with service delivery leadership to improve onboarding, offboarding, monitoring, and operational workflows
  • Optimize infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and proactive maintenance strategies utilizing PRTG and related tools
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operational friction through automation and process improvement

Strategic Client Partnership

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for assigned strategic client accounts
  • Partner closely with Account Managers to align customer technology strategy with operational and business goals
  • Participate in QBRs, roadmap planning sessions, onsite meetings, and strategic technology discussions
  • Assist with project discovery, infrastructure assessments, budgeting conversations, and technical planning initiatives
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with client leadership and technical stakeholders
  • Contribute technical guidance during onboarding, escalations, renewals, and growth planning activities

Project Delivery & Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical deployments and infrastructure projects from discovery through implementation and handoff
  • Ensure deployed environments meet operational, security, and documentation standards
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, deployment runbooks, standards, and implementation procedures
  • Collaborate with project management and leadership teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope
  • Act as a senior escalation resource for advanced technical issues and infrastructure related incidents

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 technical staff
  • Conduct internal training sessions and knowledge sharing initiatives
  • Assist with ticket reviews, troubleshooting guidance, and operational best practices
  • Contribute to team development initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Support a culture of accountability, professionalism, technical excellence, and customer success, * Delivering successful infrastructure and cloud projects on time and within scope
  • Maintaining high customer satisfaction and trusted advisor relationships
  • Improving infrastructure security, operational maturity, and standardization across client environments
  • Driving operational efficiency through automation and process improvement
  • Contributing to strategic technology planning and customer success initiatives
  • Providing effective mentorship and technical leadership across service delivery teams
  • Maintaining accurate and complete technical documentation standards
  • Demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and technical excellence in customer engagements

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows Server administration?, * Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Conditional Access, and endpoint management

  • Strong experience designing and supporting Windows Server and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud migration projects
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint security, MFA, and operational security standards
  • Experience with networking technologies including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure
  • Experience with virtualization technologies including Hyper V and VMware
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, RMM, and automation platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting and infrastructure design skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer relationship management and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong ownership mentality and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Experience working within a Managed Service Provider environment, * Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Security certifications, or related infrastructure certifications
  • Experience with ConnectWise Manage, ConnectWise Automate, PRTG, Trend Micro Vision One, ThreatLocker, Duo, or similar platforms
  • Experience supporting compliance driven organizations and regulated industries
  • Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, CJIS, NIST, or related compliance frameworks
  • Experience with SharePoint migrations and Microsoft cloud modernization initiatives
  • Experience with Elevate UCaaS or VoIP platforms
  • Experience with Power BI reporting and operational analytics is a plus
  • Amazon Web Services experience is a plus
