Job description
We are seeking a technically driven Junior Systems Administrator with strong Network Support experience to join our IT team in Mentor, OH. This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of hands-on experience supporting Windows server environments and assisting with network infrastructure.
This position goes beyond basic help desk duties - the right candidate will actively support servers, network equipment, system performance, and security initiatives while continuing to grow into a full Systems Administrator role.
Core ResponsibilitiesSystems Administration (Primary Focus)
- Support and maintain Windows Server environments
- Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policy, and user permissions
- Administer Microsoft 365 (user provisioning, licensing, email troubleshooting)
- Monitor system performance and ensure uptime and reliability
- Assist with server patching, updates, and system backups
- Support virtualization environments (VMware or Hyper-V)
- Maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures
Network Support (Strong Secondary Focus)
- Assist in managing LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN connectivity issues
- Support switches, routers, and firewall configurations
- Monitor network performance and resolve bottlenecks
- Assist with network security implementations and endpoint protection
End-User & Help Desk Support (Limited but Required)
- Provide Tier 2 support for escalated desktop and application issues
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations and hardware
- Support printers, VoIP phones, and mobile devices
Requirements
- 1-3 years of hands-on Systems Administration or Network Support experience
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server environments
- Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs)
- Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, * Experience configuring switches and firewalls
- Exposure to cybersecurity tools and best practices
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions, * Career-focused IT professional looking to grow into a mid-level Systems or Network Administrator
- Comfortable working with infrastructure - not just end-user tickets
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to work independently
- Eager to expand technical skills in server and network environments
Benefits & conditions
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
