Job description

Supports the implementation, configuration, and daily use of clinical application systems, including EHR and EDR platforms, under the guidance of the HIT Manager. Works closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure effective system functionality, accurate clinical documentation, and efficient workflows. Provides user onboarding, training, and ongoing support for application features, templates, and reporting tools. Develops and maintains custom templates and reports to meet clinical and operational needs. Assists in evaluating and improving clinical workflows and information flow processes to enhance system utilization and user adoption. Collaborates with cross-functional departments-including Administration, Business Office, Behavioral Health, Dental, Medical, HIM, and Pharmacy-to support consistent, effective use of clinical applications across the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Training & Onboarding

  • Design and deliver role-specific EHR training for clinical and clinical support staff, including onboarding for new EHR/EDR/PM users.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including manuals, videos, tip sheets, and standardized reporting guides.
  • Adapt training approaches to varying levels of computer literacy and EHR experience.

EHR Support, Optimization & Gap Analysis

  • Evaluate EHR functionality and system performance to identify deficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct gap analysis for new software implementations and system upgrades to assess workflow impact and user needs.
  • Monitor clinical efficiency and system utilization to recommend enhancements.
  • Incorporate user feedback and data to support ongoing system optimization.

Workflow & Quality Improvement

  • Analyze clinical workflows to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives related to clinical documentation and EHR use.

Project Support & Collaboration

  • Provide application support for projects and system initiatives under the direction of the HIT Manager and IT teams.
  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and technical stakeholders to support implementation and optimization efforts.
  • Foster an environment that encourages reporting of system issues and improvement suggestions.

Reporting & Super User Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the HIT Manager and Executive Director.
  • Perform Super User responsibilities and other assigned application support duties.

Job Specifications

Requirements

Essential:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of professional CAC experience
  • Associates in Information Technology or Health Information Technology
  • Experience with NextGen E.H.R, EDR, and PM software
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance within a clinical environment

Desirable:

  • LVN or higher nursing / clinical background
  • NextGen Certified Professional a plus
  • Experience in a Tribal or Community Health Clinic
